L’Occitane Shea Butter

Foot CreamProbably one of the largest names in the high-end luxury beauty market, L’Occitane has made a foot cream that does not disappoint. L’Occitane Shea Butter Foot Cream has won awards from popular fashion magazines (Cosmo & Vanity Fair), as well as a couple from the national dermatological association. The active ingredient in the L’Occitane’s formula is a French lavender essential oil. This cleans, purifies and opens the skin so that the anti-inflammatory arnica can work better to calm redness and inflammation.

The beautiful smelling, rich cream works all over the feet and can be used on heels, soles, and toes. The Lavender oil will also help combat inflammation and heal scar tissue. Lavender oil also has anti-fungal properties, so can help get rid of fungal itches and keep toenails healthy. The product also contains Shea butter, which is another anti-inflammatory containing fatty acids and vitamins, which is what gives it its remarkable ability to sort dry and cracked heels. L’Occitane is massaged directly into the feet, and lasts all day – although for best results people tend to apply it twice a day. This is also recommended to improve circulation of blood in the feet – which is one of the key factors in healthy and smooth feet. If there were to be any complaints about the product, that would be how much it costs. You are able to order L’Occitane online or find it at your local department store cosmetics counters.

Loccitane Foot Cream Reviews

L’occitane has a worldwide reputation as one of the best skin care creams and lotions around. They have over 5 million likes on Facebook and a high rating (4.6/5) on Amazon.com.

The L’Occitane journey is a very interesting one. Started in 1976 by then 23-year-old Olivier Baussan and equipped with nothing but an alambic, a small truck and a deep knowledge of plants – L’Occitane was first sold in the local markets of Provence, produced in a revived old soap factory. By 1977 L’Occitane  had reserved its first harvest of Lavender, the fragrant and iconic flower of Provence. Shea butter was introduced in 1980 when Olivier and his team learned about its incredible nourishing qualities from the women of Burkina Faso, West Africa.

Since then the company has grown from strength to strength – leading the way in skin care products and their social responsibilities. While traditionally, the L’Occitane market has been aimed at women, I have often recommended men to use this product too for the same benefits. As mentioned above, the price can often be a stumbling block for a lot of people, but if you can afford it then it is definitely worth it.

AHAVA Mineral

AHAVA Mineral Foot Cream is chock full of ingredients that are known for their moisturizing and healing effects on the skin. AHAVA uses a Dead Sea mineral combination called Osmotor, which can help reduce irritation and heal cracks – all while providing a deep moisturisation which keeps your feet feeling smooth all round. Even though this foot lotion has been designed specifically for the feet, I have found it to also be a good substitute cream that can be used for dry and flaking knees and elbows. This is due to the formula also including aloe vera and avocado oil, which will soothe and moisturize the skin.

The lotion also includes plant extracts, including sweet almond oil (so smooth) and jojoba oil. These ingredients, along with wheat germ, both provide and help the skin on the feet to retain moisture. The lotion also contains salicylic acid, which has been added to replenish and revitalize tired skin on the feet. This product can be applied to the entire foot, including your toenails and heels. Just like the L’Occitane, the AHAVA Mineral Cream contains an anti-fungal agent in the form of added tea leaf oil to fight fungi and bacteria. Overall it is a fantastic cream, and I highly recommend it.

One of the drawbacks of AHAVA is that it isn’t widely available in drugstores or at beauty counters, as well as being on the high end of the pricing scale. If you are looking to get it, I would recommend ordering it online through Amazon.

AHAVA Mineral Foot Cream Reviews

The profound effects of Osmoter™ on the skin have been independently approved by Europe’s prestigious Dermatest Institute. Their findings revealed that this powerful mineral compound is dramatically beneficial to the skin’s key functions. The established and proven combination of skin smoothing and delaying ageing* places the Osmoter™ in a significant position, playing a vital role in AHAVA’s products.

AHAVA is one of the largest skin care and cosmetic companies in the world. Founded in 1988 on the shores of the dead sea in a pioneering eco-friendly factory, their mission was to bring the health of the minerals of the Dead Sea right to your home.

O’Keeffe’s Healthy Foot Cream

Probably the most unconventional looking product on the list, but don’t let that fool you. O’Keeffe’s Healthy Foot Cream is probably one of the best products on the market when it comes to cracked and dry heels and feet. This concentrated lotion contains Glycerin and Allantoin, which work together to heal and protect the thick outer layer on your feet.

One of the main things that set this cream apart is how quick it works. I have seen feet become unrecognizable after a couple of weeks of daily use. In fact, O’Keeffe’s will give you your money back if you don’t happen to see a vast improvement in the smoothness and health of your feet. O’Keeffe’sfor Healthy Feet Foot Cream is safe for people with diabetes.

O'Keeffe's Foot Cream Reviews

O’Keeffe’s for Healthy Feet Foot Cream is an effective foot lotion that heals, revitalizes and repairs extremely dry and cracked feet. When used daily, O’Keeffe’s for Healthy Feet is clinically proven to instantly boost moisture levels, help prevent future moisture loss & create a protective barrier on the skin’s surface. O’Keeffe’s for Healthy Feet Foot Cream will make a difference you will feel within days.

The roots of the O’Keeffe’s Skin Care Company go back over 20 years to a dry patch of the California-Oregon border known as the Klamath Basin. There lived Bill O’Keeffe, a rancher and diagnosed diabetic who loved his rigorous, physically demanding work. The rough and tumble lifestyle, however, took a serious toll on his hands and feet. His daughter, Tara, seeing the pain causing her father from his chronically dry skin, was driven to find a cream that relieved her father’s dry, cracked skin.

Applying her knowledge as a pharmacist, Tara and Bill spent years creating and testing various lotions mixed in her kitchen – until many years later, the basic formula for what has become O’Keeffe’s Working Hands (and eventually O’Keeffe’s for Healthy Feet).

O’Keeffe’s Company is a family-owned business operating out of California.

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Foot Cream

It is also excellent for softening calluses and relieving foot itch.

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Foot Cream has many invigorating ingredients in its formula such as keratin amino acids & glycerin to lock moisture in the feet. Menthol provides a healing effect (plus a pleasant fragrance!). Neutrogena Norwegian comes highly recommended as a formula and product that has been dermatologist tested for over 25 years. This product is easily found in drugstores and online.

1. Keep your body well hydrated.

If you fail to drink enough water, your body will become dehydrated. This effect is often first transferred to your hands & feet; which then end up becoming dry and peel. It’s therefore important to constantly be drinking fluids if you want to keep them soft (I’ve always recommended 2 litres of water a day to active adults).

2. Keep yourself warm.

This especially applies during cold winters when your blood circulation tends to drop. Unfortunately, it is your feet that will be affected the most, as they will not receive sufficient water and nutrients from the blood stream. Is for this reason that it is crucial to keep your body warm to keep your feet in good condition.

3. Get a regular checkup from your GP.

Suffering from conditions such as diabetes or poor circulation from high blood pressure, it is very likely that you will develop a hard and dry skin. Be sure to take a regular body test to address any of these conditions as soon as possible.

4. Avoid hot water.

If you take really long, hot baths, your skin is stripped of its oils and moisture, which can leave your heels dry and even crack.

5. Manage your weight.

If you are overweight (especially if obese), the pressure exerted by your own body mass on your feet can exasperate the cracks on your heels.

6. Watch which soap you are using.

There are many soaps and cosmetic products that contain components which dehydrate your skin and strip it of its protective oils. As such make sure you choose your soaps carefully if you are experiencing dry skin.

7. Be smart about the shoes you wear.

You may want to avoid shoes that are a poor fit, as they can cause friction and excessive pressure on your feet. Also, wearing open back shoes for a prolonged period of time can cause the skin on your foot to expand and harden.

8. Rest your feet often.

Standing or walking for long periods can lead to hardening of your heels. Consider taking regular breaks by sitting or lifting your feet if you have been on them for a while.

9. Wear socks.

Try to avoid walking around barefoot, especially on hard ground (roads, paving, generally outside) as this places pressure on your heels. If you don’t want to wear shoes, I would suggest that you still wear socks or slippers to help to absorb some of this pressure as well as minimise friction.

10. Moisturise with foot cream.

By far the best way to keep your heels moisturised is by applying a good, effective heel and foot lotion. Luckily for you, you have ten top options to choose from above! For the best results when using a foot cream consider applying your cream daily just before you go to sleep.

When it comes to the human body and taking care of yourself, one of the most important things you can do is look after the parts that work the hardest. It could be fairly said that the feet are up there on that list. They absorb a serious amount of pressure from being stood on all day, from running, wearing uncomfortable shoes and getting trapped in a sweaty environment for longer than most would like to know. Feet also are the first ones to suffer when your circulation starts to slow. You would be surprised to know how many people only start looking after their feet once there is a problem, rather than taking preventative measures to ensure they last for as long as you do.

It is for this reason that I recommend a high quality, moisture-rich foot cream that you apply daily. A good slathering of a decent foot cream can help prevent all sorts of problems that inevitably come with age and health problems.

One of the primary beneficiary conditions of using a good foot lotion is dry feet. Dry feet are also often a precursor to a more serious problem within your body (from dehydration, poor circulation, diabetes, fungal infection). In some cases feet can become so dry that they crack and become painful, sometimes even bleeding or allowing bacteria to reside and cause infection. Luckily, there are numerous creams and lotions on the market that can help you look after your dry feet a lot better. These creams will usually include Shea butter, sea minerals, aloe vera, keratin amino acids & glycerin as active ingredients; and is often a thick and rich applicant. Be sure to use your foot cream at least once a day (preferably before bed to prevent any slips / losing any moisture) or as directed on the bottle.

When the feet become so dry that they crack, then it is more important than ever before to use a foot cream. The skin on the heels often cracks with age and lack of TLC. This can lead to painful, bleeding sores on your feet. It also provides bacteria with a warm and hospitable place to grow – which could lead to a serious infection. In order to prevent it, you should use a foot cream for cracked heels immediately / as often as your doctor has advised you.

The feet have more than 7000 nerve endings each which help with walking, balance and feeling (that’s why the feet are so ticklish!). Because of this though, it is very easy to develop a pain in your feet. There are also several conditions such as diabetes that can cause foot pain. Unlike a traditional medicine that can have effects on your whole body, a good relief for foot pain is a decent foot cream rubbed into the source of the pain, which nourishes the cells, prevents inflammation/infection and can allow the healing process to start. Foot creams for pain relief often include menthol, capsaicin, Arnica Montana, or other homoeopathic ingredients to provide relief with little to no side effects. Most of the pain-relieving foot creams are fast acting.

Those that suffer from diabetes need to take especially good care of their feet. Failure to do so will often put you at risk for amputation due to poor circulation and nerve sensation. This could result in a diabetic getting a foot injury and not noticing it due to lack of sensation; which has been known to kill – either through getting an infection or gangrene. This means that diabetics need to actively take care of their feet. It is important to choose a foot cream that quickly massages into the skin and does not leave a greasy residue. It is also helpful to choose a cream that is fragrance-free and non-irritating. Aloe vera is a good ingredient to look for. It is best to ask your health-care provider about whether or not foot cream would be right for your needs. Your pharmacist can also recommend a top brand that will meet your needs, too.

Make sure that you choose a foot cream that massages directly into the skin and does not leave a slippery or greasy residue. A lot of diabetics tend to use a cream that is also fragrance-free, as the constant application as often as they need it can often leave them hating the smell. In terms of ingredients, Aloe Vera is a great ingredient to look out for. It is always best to get a second opinion from your doctor or pharmacist who may be more familiar with your condition.

Your feet deserve as much attention as any other part of your body. Hopefully, this list of foot creams and lotions has given you enough advice on how to keep your feet looking younger and healthier. You will often find that no matter your foot condition (flaky skin, fungal infection, dry or cracked heels etc) is easily treated by a good foot lotion. Even diabetes sufferers have a wide range of foot creams to choose from. Most creams can be bought in high-end cosmetic stores or supermarkets, however, if you purchase on Amazon through one of the links on this page you will be helping to support this blog. Please note that we don’t get paid to recommend any products by any of the above companies, however, we are a part of the Amazon affiliate scheme.
