I have found a great way to moisturize my feet with ingredients that can be put together in the comfort of my own home. Here I have written ingredients, and the steps to combining these for two soothing healing foot creams. One is for mild cases of dry feet and the other for a more extreme and possibly painful cases . Remember it is always a good idea to be in contact with a professional in these areas as to application and usage of the creams , especially if the condition persists and or worsens . All the ingredients are easy to find , whether that be at your local grocery store or Amazon.com , or even Walmart in the beauty supply section . We all know we can save a little time going and purchasing these foot moisturizing creams from the store ready made , but i so enjoy the peace of mind and homey feel of putting together a few simple ingredients , getting a hands on approach , and learning new things , not to mention being more involved .foot moisturizing creams from the store ready made , but i so enjoy the peace of mind and homey feel of putting together a few simple ingredients , getting a hands on approach , and learning new things , not to mention being more involved .
How to make :
The first thing i like to do when i make my soothing foot cream is take 3/4 cup of coconut oil and combine it with 1/2 cup of shea butter in a small to medium sized sauce pan . I will then , on a low to medium heat , melt them both together which usually , with a natural gas stove , takes no more than five to seven minutes . After i am satisfied that both of these ingredients are melted together I stir in 15 drops of lavender oil . Whatever the preferred container after that , i recommend a jar ,( i use a small mason jar) , but all sorts of other types of containers can be found in stores . Then , as to avoid dripping and spilling , store in a cool place for a more solid consistency to this moisturizer with a label if desired .
When applying i like to get out my favorite pair of cotton socks , ( they breath so well ) , and begin to apply the homemade moisturizing cream first to the driest areas of my feet . Ultimately i enjoy massaging the cream into all the surface of both feet . If my feet happen to be particularly dry , and time permits i will apply up to 3 times a day and modify application and times accordingly when the effect of the cream is observed .
At night before i go to sleep , is my favorite time to apply , after my nightly shower , then putting on those comfortable cotton socks . Application , once again , should persist upon observation of the effect the cream has on your feet , and adjusted accordingly . Also it is always great to be in touch with a personal doctor and or professional concerning these matters especially if condition persists and or worsens .
– cup coconut oil
– cup shea butter
– 15 drops lavender oil ( do not use these oils on kids or women during pregnancy , beyond that , these oils are optional as to whether you want to use them at all or what kind you use . Examples of other oils are ; basil , sandalwood , spearmint , agar , and anise oils among an abundance of others )
For particularly dry , cracked feet :
Before application of this homemade foot healing accommodation is applied it never hurts to scrub the calloused and or afflicted areas of the feet with a pumice stone , and plenty prefer a detoxifying foot soak after the pumice stone . If i happen to have a significantly dry , and even painful pair of dry feet , this is a great way to sooth soften , and heal more extreme cases . First i boil some water , from that boiling water i mix together in a small bowl or container , two tablespoons of the water with magnesium flakes ( magnesium facilitates or encourages absorption for faster health benefit ) . When the magnesium dissolves and your left with a thick liquid , set aside to cool .
Using a small to medium sauce pan , like we did with the more basic foot cream , combine beeswax , shea butter , and coconut oil melting them together on low to medium heat . When they are melted together take the pan off of the heat and allow to cool until room temperature . When the mixture is room temperature , this particular cream / salve is going to require blending . Whether an immersion blender , a wire whisk , or hand blender with the combined ingredients in a bowl , either will work fine , whatever is at your disposal .
Now while blending, a drop at a time, begin to add in the magnesium mix. Keep adding a drop at a time until the magnesium mix is well blended in and all of the mixtures has been combined with the rest of the ingredients. Then if you would like, and you can use any preference of essential oils, put in the oregano and peppermint oil (pep. oil in this example) and your gonna whip it in with a fork or whisk , or if using a mixer with a whip setting until thoroughly combined. Refrigerate this soothing concoction for fifteen minutes and then blend again for a good body buttering thickness.
I prefer, after the final blending, to keep my foot cream in the refrigerator for a nice, soothing, cooling effect upon application. For me, it depends on how serious of a case of dryness and cracking that I have going on, because this mixture also does just fine for up to two months when kept at room temperature. Administer a healthy, thick coat, to affected areas.
In this case, i definitely recommend a nice pair of breathable cotton socks to put on the feet until the cream is absorbed fully. Again, night application is best, as it is when the body restores, rejuvenates, and cleanses itself.
